What are your resolutions for this new year, 2009? Cuales son tus promesas de anho nuevo?

Would you share your good purposes for this new year we are starting together? Here are some of mine: I promise to call my family in Peru every weekend, I promise to be a better teacher and mentor with my kids, I want to become the best bilingual teacher in the district (I already am, but I also promise to be more humble). :)

How about you, guys? Also, how was your New Year's Eve? Who were you with? What did you do?

If you created a hero, how would he/she be? Si crearas un heroe, como seria el o ella?

I am very curious to read some comments for this post. I am positive they will be very interesting. We have been talking in class about the ideal of a hero and reviewing some details of different ones. The stereotype of the superhero is Superman because he was the first one to be created in 1,932 (by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Superman).

The stereotype of an archer is the English Robin Hood and most people remember his fights for the rights of poor people (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robin_hood).

The greatest hero of all times (in my opinion) was Hercules, son of Zeus. Of course, his stories are also legends from Greek Mythology (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hercules), but he is still fascinating.
Another incredible figure was William Tell, who fought for Switzerland in the early 14th century (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/William_Tell).
Repeating the question that works as a tittle for this post... if you would have to create a hero, how would you name him/her? What characteristics would he/she have? Any special virtues? Any powers? Why would he/she be special? Tell me about your hero!

Tengo muchisima curiosidad por leer los comentarios de este tema. Estoy seguro que van a ser muy interesantes. Hemos venido conversando en clase acerca del ideal de un heroe y tambien hemnos venido revisando distintos detalles de varios de ellos. Segun mi opinion, el mas grande heroe de todos los tiempos fue Hercules, hijo del dios Zeus. Por supuesto, sus historias son solamente leyendas de la Mitologia Griega (http://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hercules), pero siguen siendo fascinantes.

Otra figura increible fue la de Guillermo Tell, quien peleo por Suiza en el siglo 14 (http://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guillermo_Tell).

Repitiendo la pregunta que nos sirve de titulo para este tema... si tuvieran que inventar un heroe, como lo/la llamarian? Que caracteristicas tendria? Alguna virtud especial? Algun poder? Por que seria especial? Cuentenme acerca de su heroe!
